FAQs

Is WSIB mandatory in Canada?
Did you know that WSIB coverage isn’t mandatory for every business in Ontario? The Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA) outlines which industries need to have coverage and which industries don’t. Businesses that do need to have WSIB coverage pay premiums in exchange for workplace insurance.

What does WSIB do in Ontario?
We’re here to help. We provide wage-loss benefits, medical coverage and support to help people get back to work after a work-related injury or illness. We are funded by premiums paid by Ontario businesses.

What happens when you go on WSIB?
If your work-related injury or illness causes you to lose earnings, we will provide income replacement benefits. If we determine that you can’t work because of your work-related injury or illness, or you can only safely return to work for less pay, we may pay you up to 85 per cent of your pre-injury take-home pay.

Is WSIB only in Ontario?
The WSIB pays for health care provided, in Quebec, to Ontario residents at the WSIB’s treatment rates. Services provided in Quebec to residents of Quebec or other provinces are paid at the Quebec provincial health care rates or at rates paid by Quebec’s workers’ compensation board.

VERY surprised to see such low ratings! I’ve had Tangerine accounts and mortgages since they took over ING. Never any problems and lots of great service. I have always appreciated their promotions for getting more interest from their products.
